So he desperately tries to give honors to himself. A true indication of his petty, insecure nature. To do this he needs to destroy the Kennedy Family political dynasty, to erase memory of the Kennedy legacy, to try to replace it with his own spawn. We can never overestimate psychological effects with this president. Also, any victory against him shifts public opinion. Also, he is desperate for approval, and when he doesn't get it, he becomes less able to function. Also, small wins lead to big wins. With a bully, you DO hit him (metaphorically) when he is down because that is the best opportunity. Bullies don't stop until they are forced to retreat.
The other members of the board including the president have a fiduciary duty to the Kennedy Center.
Can they be sued personally and prosecuted? They showed be. Who has standing?
The statute of limitations must be longer than two and a half years. They should be served with subpoenas as soon as the Democrats control a house of Congress.
In the meantime, the public should pressure them to resign (peacefully and not doxing). We know who they are. They are associated with other organizations, and we should ask those organizations if they can afford to be associated with this type of people.

Congress appropriate $250 million for the renovation and maintenance of the Kennedy Center. In refusing to use those funds for that purpose Trump is violating the impoundment control act. The general accounting office should force Trump to use those funds for that purpose. If it fails to do so, the GOP control Congress should subpoena Trump officials and Kennedy Center board members and press them to uphold their obligations.
What will happen if DonOld demolishes the Center? It's the midterms for one thing; and his poll numbers fell precipitously when he destroyed the East Wing. If his advisors can't get him to stop, he will pay dramatically, a loss bigger than all of them.
I think supporters of the Kennedy Center who have financial clout need to hire security services to protect it. Otherwise wile we are discussing protective legislation the corrupt president of the US will pull it down while we're talking!
Tear it down and dump it in the Potomac. It can join the East Wing, the Rose Garden, and East Potomac Park golf club. What that asshole will never understand is that we will always love what he knocks down. And that we will rebuild.
