Fun Fact: tomorrow the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize is announced. Another day of presidential fury.

Thanks for reminding us. Secretly hoping it will turn out to be something like "the people of Minneapolis" who showed the world peacefully how to stand up to a marauding bully with a vicious police force.

"But by β€œremaking the Republican Party in his image, he transformed it in this way as well. The Grand Old Party is now the Party of Precarious Manhood.” Now, they risk becoming the party of whiny, complaining, male, self-assigned victims."

I suspect that Trump trolls PAY good looking, young blond men and women to show up for these rallies and then strategically plant them where the cameras are pointing.

And yet they still can only lure a relative few to the event.

Minneapolis...wouldn't that be a satisfying irony.

Never mind Nobel β€” small potatoes! What everyone *really* wants to know is who’s up for this year’s FIFA Peace Prize!πŸ˜€

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH111

OhMyGosh, I totally forgot about that, Lenny!

I have a couple of suggestions for FIFA Peace Prize nominees:

β€” Kristi Noem: After achieving the highest possible success taking DHS to new heights, this devoted, selfless public servant has moved onward & upward, exploring new vistas as Special Envoy for the prestigious Shield of the Americas. The only reason we haven’t heard about her great accomplishments there is because they’re probably all classified.

β€” Kash Patel: His devotion to his position of Director of the FBI has been so intense that at times colleagues have feared he was dead when he ensconced himself in his office for extended periods, quietly meditating on more effective ways to combat crime. I mean, how much more peaceful can you get?

Please let it be Dr. Fauci. That will send the MAGATS into nuclear meltdown. Technically, he's fought wars (disease outbreaks) and won, so he's a peacemaker.

Oh, is the impending announcement the reason behind Trump's manic behavior of late?

Someone should impersonate the Nobel committee's preliminary phone call to the prize recipient. Trump's exultation and subsequent rants of fraud would be a show the world would truly enjoy.

Another excellent column, Ms. Rubin. I marvel at your prodigious output of well-written insightful material. I myself have frequently thought about how quickly "So much winning" morphed into "So much whining!". Thank you again for your important writing.

It's Come To This's avatar

I must have missed the "winning" part. I've never seen such whining, right from Day 1, gaining speed and force every day.

With that difference that Louis the fourteenth of his name had great taste, knew how to control his minions and won 4 wars.

Drump? Not so much.

Drump: NOT AT ALL, Marc.

Trump is a pathetic little man-child. All of those Republicans are. They’re disgusting and totally out of touch with what the American people need. They’re underwater just like Trump and their boss is doing them a serious disservice by showing up at their campaign stops. I hope they all continue to self-destruct. Nothing is better than to see Ken Paxton squirm and blame the boss.

"Victim mentality, excuse-mongering, and wallowing in their own rage" has been the modus operandi of America's unreconstructed Confederates since Robert Lee quit the Civil War field at Appomatox in 1865. They thought Trump would refight the Civil War, but they were wrong.

Good one. All so true and so tragic for our country. Can't wait till they finish falling into the ash pit if history.

That sums up our nation’s political, economic and social state of affairs as only Jennifer can do it.

When you gather all of these "victims" together, they are the MAGA Cult. Insecure men who are afraid of failure and the women who follow them.

Craig L Peebles's avatar

I think so-called "Republicans" should uniformly and consistently be referred to as "MAGATs" and nothing else. "MAGAts in the Congress failed to pass a War Powers resolution." "The Senate MAGATs have confirmed unqualified Cabinet officers." The elephant icon should be replaced by an animated GIF of fly larvae working on a dead rat carcass.

And yet... it's going to be a close thing. Or maybe not, but we don't know.

And who are these security guards reportedly being stationed in post offices in large numbers? What is their real purpose? Under what law?
