Yes, it's appalling, but remember that there's always some percentage of the population that will believe any lie no matter how obviously false it is, buy any product no matter how crappy and useless it is, and believe any self-promoting huckster or so-called "leader" no matter how obviously fraudulent or dishonest he/she is.
Remember that some people still cling to the "2020 election was stolen" fantasy/lie and that many people back in the day bought pet rocks. Remember that Nixon, as dishonest and slimy as any human being could be, still had approximately 25% support -->even as he walked out to Marine One for his last ride away from the White House after having resigned the presidency in total disgrace.

There are also 12 incorporated cities in the U.S. named Ontario. He needs to get the sharpie out and start whacking away. Nuts? You think he is nuts? Thanks for the clarification on Germany’s political nightmare — I was concerned (and still am) but have been able to ratchet it down a few notches thanks to your “Jolt."
With all else that is going on, it's time not to lose focus on what's happening right here in the U.S. We can't start to sort anything else out until we take care of the immediate problem here.
Frankly I worry about putting too much credence on polls. I'd like to believe that Trump is "in the dumps" but there is a lot of money going into the midterms, much of it MAGA. We just dont know what people will do on election day and why. Just look at 2024 which was supposed to be a close race.
If money has a role in this election, it should be the money saved on repeal of the tariffs and end to the war. And that would still result in a vote for Democrats.
For two good analyses of what polls to trust, see G. Elliott Morris' Substack (and a video he did with one of his partners at Fifty Plus One). Also, David Nir had a great piece on which polls they use at The Downballot that came out today.
In a sane universe, the Republican Congress would acknowledge how incredibly dangerous Trump is, not just to the US, but to world. He would be removed from office by impeachment. The Twenty-fifth Amendment is a backup, an alternative, if Congress will not do its job. Unfortunately, the Trump Cabinet is, like the Republican Congress, too spineless to do anything - no matter the danger to the country and the world.

There's no way to say what the worst thing he is doing... I despise what ICE has become, adding stinging gloves and mechanical dogs. How can the goverment - Republicans - allow it. And I fear for what Trump is doing to the whole world. Let's get the voters out.

Trump is definitely nuts. If times were normal, his recent activity on social media (in the last month or so) would be ample evidence for normal politicians to impeach and remove him from office. But these are not normal times.
