No rest for the weary, as the saying goes, but this protest asks people to jam up the economy, just for one day, by staying home from school, work, and shopping.
I think it would be great to combine May Day Strong with a request that people do not drive and use public transit if possible the entire day. A "high gas prices" protest!
This is a great follow-on to No Kings 3! It’s really important this time to support the economies of immigrant and small businesses by proactively encouraging people to shop there and stay away from chains. Some in Minneapolis are really struggling, and we need to support them!
For those of us who demonstrate along boulevards and roads and who cheer for every car that honks (I calculated 3600 honks per hour), we might carry signs that read
My only problem with this is that no distinction is made between shopping at stores that are owned by giant corporations & shopping at small, independent businesses that are locally owned & operated.
Make that distinction clear when you join the protest - bring a sign saying Support your local mon-and-pop stores, send a letter to the editor ahead of time, send a note to the manager of the big box stores around you. Etc.

I agree in principle, and will choose not to consume on May 1. However, I am OK with any low income worker who chooses to work that day.
We do need to keep the presence up and the pressure on any way we can. A May-day boycott and protest is a good idea.
Love it! Thanks April.
