There aren't many celebrities whose deaths I feel personally, but Dolly is one of them. She was a caring, generous, compassionate human being and this is just so sad. And I apologize if this is catty but it just pisses me off to no end that Dolly is gone but that human garbage in the White House still breathes.
I can't help but feel her 'loss'.....she did so much for so many people.....such an icon of 'goodness'. The kind of person so needed in the 'world'. My sincere condolences to her family.
Dolly is (not was) a treasure. One thing I have not seen mentioned in the remembrances is that she helped out with Beyonce's "Cowboy Carter" album and, apparently, had no problems with Beyonce re-writing her icon "Joleen" to cast the wife as a threat to Joleen should she dare come after the husband. A nice twist of the plot.
Dolly Parton was and still is an American treasure. We were and are blessed by her music, her talent and how she lived her life with humility, humor, integrity, love and joy. I love knowing that she will rest in peace on a “pile of soft cotton”. Thank you.🙏
When Dolly was in Mt. Shasta CA looking at real estate I bumped into her at a large Victorian home. The home was on a small ranch which raised llamas. I asked her " What are you going to do with the llama, Dolly? She laughed uproariously. JB
Yes we will. I won’t forget when those people in the mountains lost their homes to the fires caused by an arsonist and drier than normal weather that summer. When I found out Dolly went out and helped them it was such a huge relief. I know those people were eternally grateful for her incalculable generosity. We will always love ❤️ Dolly.
From the land down under…Dolly Parton was an outstanding human being. Her unique style, her musical talent, her humanity and generosity typified what we have always seen as the best qualities of America….can you please go back to good America and Dolly Parton time…
..many hearts are there: thing of it is, there's a lot of learning that we've had to do -- and oddly enough, this administration is pulling us together in many ways. Please, don't get me wrong -- I cannot think of one of their initiatives that's made me proud, but we are talking more directly with one another *and* listening to one another -- and it's been awhile since that's happened as you noted above.
Thanks for caring about us -- even as you have concerns for your own Country: we benefit from you sharing your concerns -- it helps us see more of what we weren't aware of. It also helps us so we don't feel alone.
We have a lot to do -- but with Jimmy Carter, John Lewis, John Prine, and Dolly Parton as mentors and seeing what they accomplished -- many are inspired.
Meredith, there was a poll earlier this year that proves you right. Dolly was number 1. President Obama was number 2, and President Zelenskyy was either number 9 or 12.
