I continue to be horrified by the so-called administration and I thank you for keeping up the pressure through litigation. I am very happy to be a subscriber.

Thank you Norman for all you and others to fight and speak truth to power. Huzzah!

It’s not just this fully absurd Reflection Pool story, which was solely caused by the incompetent contractors hired by Trump, who were pushed to finish the job quickly all so he could point at the pool and say “Look at me. I did that. Isn’t it beautiful.”

I was far more horrified about the sentences the Prarieland Protesters received which were seriously outside the bounds of Federal Guidelines. I want to know who’s going to help them fight, and work on their appeals.

There’s no doubt a DC Federal Judge will dismiss the stupid charges against Davey Hearn. Just as Patrick Schlitz recognized the insanity of the Subpoenas issued for Minnesota government officials this week and vacated them.

There’s a lot of Judges holding things together. And clearly others who are not, SCOTUS included.

How the 14th Amendment question was even taken up by SCOTUS is beyond me. It's right there in the Constitution, why not just say no, an EO can't override that.

I shudder to think where we'd be without the hard, intense legal work Norm and a large cohort of attorneys are doing. Thank you for every single move you make on behalf of all of us and our flawed but necessary democracy.

I won't be happy until Nosferatu Miller is

"dealt" with.

It seems to me that the defense of the Olympic athlete would include the concept of vindictive prosecution.

Lock Handley's avatar

AFAIK there has been no prosecution. It is to be hoped that there won't be. Any lawyer who would take the first steps to pursue this case would be risking their license, and -- even more important -- their reputation with the judges. Professional suicide, either way. At some point any lawyer who is being prodded over a cliff by the administration is going to turn around and tryto take away the pitchfork.

The concept that is relevant at this point is "wrongful arrest." I don't know anything about it, and don't have te facilities to do the research. If there is any promise this approach, I guarantee Mr. Hearn's lawyers will pursue it.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

The worst part is, it's being done in our name AND we will pay for DOJ to defend it AND we will pay any judgment for wrongful arrest. We will. You and me, not Trump.

Steve 218's avatar

Give 'em hell. Mr. Eisen and the rest of the legal teams are defending Mr. Hearn and our rights from specious prosecutions. As there was no imminent threat to attack Iran, there were no vandals that attacked the Reflecting Pool. Corruption ran rampant, from the incompetent contractor, poor preparation, charges of vandalism when the project backfired, winding up with prosecutorial scapegoats. People have dipped their hands (and feet) into that pool over the years without charges, so why now? Trump is unhinged.

And again, WE are paying for the military to guard a broken "pond,"

Steve 218's avatar

We paid to indulge Trump's folly, and we're paying again to correct the damage. As you say, we're also paying the military to protect the manufactured swamp a.k.a pond. Finally, we're paying for the legal processes to prosecute these people for doing what used to not be a crime. Are we winning yet??

Can anything be done for the Haitians who have rescued economically the communities that they have assimilated into? Don't the citizens that support them count? They're white.

Susan C Shea's avatar

Will their White citizen neighbors, fellow church-goers, and co-workers stand up for them? There's a democracy moment waiting to happen.

Thomas Moore's avatar

Springfield is vocally upset about it. Will be interesting to see how those production facilities that really needed that immigrant labor will do if the Haitians there are actually deported. Possibly they won't be for that reason, we can hope.

Carole Langston's avatar

I know. Miller is after his racist agenda which also serves as obfuscation for 🍊, Epstein. Kelly spews her vitriol to fire up the MAGAt core. I was thinking more legally. Looking hopefully to The Contrarian and JVL comments.

Carole Langston's avatar

I meant JV not JVL.

Repeating something I said last week (was it here?): The three National Guard members in that picture should have a collective thought balloon over their heads, reading TELL US AGAIN WHY WE ARE HERE?

If I were 40 years younger, I'd do my best to go to DC and TOUCH THE FLUFFING WATER.

Steve 218's avatar

Had I a penny for all of the people who did so when Dr. King spoke there in 1963, I could have retired much sooner. These charges are vindictive harassment.

Can you imagine where Tom Hanks would be if the government had such restrictions during the filming of Forrest Gump?

Anne Pierce's avatar

I wouldn't touch it because of the bird poop and whatnot, but it certainly isn't a crime to touch it!

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

It's just bird poop. Now the diarrhea that Trump spews, that is toxic.
