Trump's audacious behavior in making so many big changes shows me that he is planning on living in the White House for quite a while. The humble stature and elegance of the People's House is being transformed into a king's glittering palace. It makes me furious. How can he just do it? And, when I remember that our government is supposed to be "of the People, by the People, and for the People," ... the spending of this administration is disconsonant with our values. His huge tariffs and outrageous budget takes hard-earned money from the People, and his massive tax breaks for the rich ... are only part of the story of how he is corruptly placing those funds into his bulging pockets.

I was saying the same to my mother just today…he has no intention of leaving.

A rose garden has much more aesthetic appeal than a gaudy ballroom.

Just another example of misogynism from the tiny mind. Trump disregards our shared American history. He seems to be personally offended by our country's past glory. Especially any excellence by women and people of color. And his voters are also threatened by women and nonwhites who don't satisfy their ridiculous stereotypes. And that's why we have Mad King Donald redecorating the White House as if it were his personal palace.

The Whitehouse/Peoples House used to be a place of great pride now it is turning into a tacky, gaudy building where a wannabe dictator/felon resides

That an individual can solely decide to make such massive changes to the PEOPLES House should not be allowed. What studies actually determine the necessity for such a monstrosity. The way he's cheapened the interior of the White House is easily removed and replaced. A patio instead of the Rose Garden? A ballroom? Give me a break. It's the seat of government, not a tacky private resort.

Have people in other administrations also wished for a larger entertaining space? Leave it to the shallow "how everything looks is most important" administration to create such a tacky behemoth on the WH grounds. Shameful.

By the end of the orange convicted felon's regime, everything on the White house property will be cemented or asphalted over. Not one blade of grass will remain.

Of course, that will be good for the Tesla dealership, WWF wrestling matches, his own personal indoor football games with all the NFL owners on bended knees, etc.

I once has a friend who was married to a U.S. Governor. I always called her "First Spouse."

Yes. If we want to manifest more diversity in our presidential future we should use "first spouse" as it covers a multitude of possibilities. Using "First Lady" keeps our brains locked into "business as usual"

Well it’s GONE now! So terrible. I hope the symbolism of it being torn down by a wrecking ball (this admin) will wake people up and throw them out!

I had no idea about the use of a First Ladies' office. Glad to learn more about this absurd ballroom.
