Republicans are spinning the narrative - with some success, I fear - that the questions Democrats are raising regarding war goals and strategies as well as the demand that the president adhere to the Constitutional requirement that Congress declare war are all somehow evidence that Democrats do not support Israel. This is of course simply not true. Mainstream Democrats want Israel to be secure. They recognize that Iran is a seriously malign actor. But they also want our president to adhere to our Constitution and to be clear with the American people with the objectives of any military action.

Until now, a majority of congressional Democrats have supported a policy of let Israel do whatever it wants, aided and abetted by the US.
