'The key questions before this White House — which remain unanswered — are whether military conflict with Iran is in America’s interest, what are the objectives, and is there a plan to turn short-term tactical gains into long-term strategic success in Iran. '

No, they aren't. The answers to these questions are entirely irrelevant in light of the simple fact that this war is flatly and blatantly illegal under international law and the UN Charter.

Assassinating a head of state is illegal. Mass killing civilians (as in, hundreds of kids at a school, for instance) is illegal. Carpet bombing highly dense urban areas without provocation is illegal.

An unprovoked, massive attack on a sovereign nation isn't only unacceptable because it lacks a 'strategy for success'.

Continuing to align with 'our strongest partner and ally in the Middle East', a country led by an indicted war criminal that has committed genocide in a region it illegally occupies (and continues to do so), while escalating its apartheid-driven military takeover of another illegally occupied region, is certainly not a 'strategy for success'.

Also, there has been precious little written in The Contrarian about Israel's illegal (re) occupation of southern Lebanon, displacing tens of thousands of Lebanese civilians already under duress from constant bombings by Israel during the so-called' ceasefire'.

During the 'ceasefires' in Gaza and Lebanon that officially began within a month of each other, Israel has killed over 600+ more people in Gaza, and another 600+ people in Lebanon.

With 'friends' like these.....

I clearly see WW3 rising on the horizon.

I have joined the Contrarian as the pro democracy platform, but then I find this article which is reads as the right wing, if not fascist, propaganda. 'The U.S. military has done an outstanding job following the orders of their chain of command, and they’ve achieved military success alongside Israel decapitating the Iranian regime and military. This was especially important given Iran’s role as the largest global state sponsor of terror and its incredibly dangerous ballistic missile and nuclear programs.' Here goes the eulogy for the illegal and unprovoked terror attack on the sovereign country, arguably the war crime which threatens to completely destabilise entire region, if not the world at large. Iran has been an extraordinary peaceful country, without the nuclear arms programs, collaborating the with the UN and with the international inspections. Moreover, it was attacked the midst of negotiations, with Iran accepting everything asked from the, and more. It even accepted no stockpiling, far more than during the Obama deal. On the other hand, Israel is a rogue country that has been committing genocide in Gaza for more than two years, after decades of apartheid regime in Palestine. It has been snitching Palestinian land from the moment of its formation, and has attacked every country in the region. It has nuclear arms and is the major threat to world peace. It has already played a role in another crime against humanity, the invasion of Iraq that left close to million Iraqis killed and the country in shambles. Netanyahu with his Great Israel project has been pushing the US into this hideous crime for years and it succeeded only because Trump is surrounded by religious fanatics who openly preach hate of Islam and the Christian crusade. And then there is history, with the US overthrowing democratic and popular government of Mosaddegh in 1953 and since then doing everything to impede democracy in Iran. Every time the country got close to possibly having democracy, like some 20 years ago when it opened to the world, the US immediately hit it with far greater sanctions, making sure that it suffers economically and thus helping reactionaries and fanatics consolidate their power. In any case, the US attack on Iran provides the final blow to international order and the rule of law, destroying everything the world did through the UN to make sure that nazism and WW do not take place again. The Pandora's box was opened, for now any terror state can attack another with an excuse of a non democratic regime there. Think please: North Korea is far more dictatorial and Trump loves Kim Jong Un dearly - so how in the world can Iran be singled out? What I find even more heartbreaking and mind boggling is the defence of the Trump regime that is spreading terror on the streets of American cities, with the president being the insurrectionist-in-chief, who pardoned 1500 violent criminals that stormed the Capitol, and is a convicted felon. Finally this insane lie: 'This is the fourth time in two years that Iran has launched missiles at Israel, and the United States has stood with Israel each time.' This I borderline criminal - it was Israel launching missiles and Iran only defending itself. I am amazed and heartbroken that the Contrarian supports crimes against humanity.

This is excellent - thank you. Republicans are spinning the narrative - with some success, I fear - that the questions Democrats are raising regarding war goals and strategies as well as the demand that the president adhere to the Constitutional requirement that Congress declare war are all somehow evidence that Democrats do not support Israel. This is of course simply not true. Mainstream Democrats want Israel to be secure. They recognize that Iran is a seriously malign actor. But they also want our president to adhere to our Constitution and to be clear with the American people with the objectives of any military action.

This post reads like a damage control piece for Secretary Rubio's slip that indeed, Israel started this war. Until now, a majority of congressional Democrats have supported a policy of let Israel do whatever it wants, aided and abetted by the US. Democrats who put Israel's interests before those of the US got us to where we are now. At war.

That is no B-52, it's a B-2.

I concentrate on the fact that "Iran’s role as the largest global state sponsor of terror and its incredibly dangerous ballistic missile and nuclear programs. Ayatollah Khamenei was responsible for building these programs and the deaths of Americans, Israelis, Iranians, Jews, and many others over the past four decades." I concentrate on the fact that without Iran, its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, would have nothing to fight with. The radical Islam terror propagated by Al Shabbab and ISIS are close "relatives" of this terror enterprise. There is blood all over the world from these fanatics and haters.
