Yep, you are correct on all counts. May I add that humans attempting to beat the shit out of each other is not "entertainment"...to me, it is disgusting. Pretty antiquated and primitive. Certainly not something that should be staged on the lawn of the United States White House.

How utterly embarrassing for America.

It might be more appropriate and acceptable to turn the members of the administration upon each other. Todd Blanche facing off against Petey Hegseth might be worth a watch.

How about two Tag Teams...Blanche and Rubio vs Hegseth and Vance!!!! BOINK!

Holding the ceremonial weigh-in at the Lincoln Memorial is also obscene, with echoes of the slave auctions that used to take place in the nation’s capital, but in a place honoring the president who led the nation to end slavery.

A cage match is probably the least likely event I would walk across the street to see, except maybe because I am such a empathetic pacifist, a public execution would rank lower (I am afraid that is coming soon...) The whole thing disgusts me, but this article lights a fire for me that we must not just ignore and hope this goes away after the big birthday bash, but speak out for what it is, a spectacle of an authoritarian takeover of our nation. Your combined wisdom puts this in perspective. I am now not only nauseated by the thought, but angry he was able to pull this off. O Wait! He hasn't yet, and the weather forecast is pretty dreadful. Maybe God will have a second veto power on this project!

It's the "Cage of Follies".

Maybe Trump could put a few cars up on blocks on the White House lawn too?

Donald "Don the Con" Trump is living, breathing proof that having money doesn't necessary give you class. This is the lowest of the low-brow entertainment I can imagine, and Don the Con wouldn't recognize class if it came up to him and whacked him upside the head with a baseball bat! Even a National Farting Contest has more class than two gorillas trying to beat the crap out of each other!I wouldn't watch it if you paid me a million bucks!

Republicans and Conservatives are a disgrace and a disaster to the United States of America.

All written here is true, and didn't even touch upon when the eyesore is to be removed and how much it's going to cost the taxpayers to restore the lawn to its previous condition and beauty. Like the uglification of the Oval Office, the destruction of the Rose Garden and the demolition of the East Wing, this is just one more atrocity that the oaf has blessed us with.

Another thought: Trump put the contraption there, (and ostensibly paid for it) so let him pay to restore the grounds to their previous pristine condition. Oh, and by the way, the same applies to the restoration of the East Wing and the rose garden that he had pulled down without permission.

I couldn’t agree with you ladies more.

There was a time when I would watch boxing events. It was called an "art" in those days (I'm talking Muhammad Ali in his prime). What I see with UFC is two people engaging in life threatening brutality, something fit only for life threatening situations. It is not sport. It should not be allowed. And yet, Trump has demolished the WH landscaping to put on such an event for his birthday party. If that doesn't show you where his head is at, nothing will. In short, it's his life threatening brutality as public entertainment. I have no doubt he's thought about bringing back gladiators.

A great article. Thank you.

Please expose to the taxpayers who is paying for the construction of the garish light structure and octagonal fight to the death event. And what is the cost. When children are going without food and people are having to decide die between food and medicine, expenditures to create a venue personal profit is. beyond the pale. Will no one relieve us of this meddlesome tyrant?

It's as disgusting as donald trump. they fit each other.

Man, I miss Andy Kaufman right now!! Maybe Rise Up, Sing Out should also have a mock-up claw (I'm seeing pool noodles) and ring for mud wrestling or mock sumo lol with celebs in frog suits and people in trump suits all to raise money for immigrant's defense et al etc. etc.

I wonder given my descendants if some of them may have helped build "OUR" White House, any of our historical landmarks, known around the World.

We have millions of pictures of the East Wing and when this felon/pedo is gone with the cheers and celebrations we American Patriots can do; well then a nobody will be returned to nobody. We can return to OUR country.

Our president should be more involved with ending a war, learning all the consequences of his rashness in starting this war, learning all the negatives currently affecting our country and how he can turn them around, and other importantly presidential matters. Yes, he can celebrate his birthday with his family unless needed for more important matters.

This cage on the White House lawn should be called the "Cage of Follies". I'm making a play on "La Cage aux Folles", that Broadway play. It's chock full of corruption and "pay to play". I refuse to watch this fight.

Here's some great sports counter-programming to watch instead -- Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals where the Carolina Hurricanes play the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Canes are leading this series 3 games to 2. If the Canes win on Sunday, they will be awarded the Stanley Cup as champions of hockey. That news SHOULD displace any news on that fight from the sports news. I've been playing the Scorpions' "Rock Me Like a Hurricane" in their honor. (Disclaimer: while the Canes are not my normal hockey rooting interest, I've been rooting for them to win the Cup and rooted for them throughout the playoffs. My younger child played for a team called the Hurricanes for one season and now lives in Durham, NC. So Hurricanes is it for me this year.
