There was so much evidence of Trump's incompetence, his grifting, and his willingness to put anything challenging off onto his underlings so he could blame them if things didn't work out and take credit if they did, (which was rare).
It is appalling that someone so dishonest, crude, OK, evil as Trump could be elected, but with the help of Russia in 2016 and Musk and his AIers in 2024, it happened. They were able to keep enough Black people from voting in 2016 (that Russian interference worked well with lies designed for Black Americans) and Democrats from voting in 2024 (even Dems couldn't tolerate a brilliant, competent woman of color as president. The Musk tampering with tallying machines was very effective). Trump has few skills, but reading people is one of them, and he uses it against all of us because we don't really pay attention. We listen to the blather and the illusion painted by the corrupt and think we are seeing a smart, even brilliant businessman when Trump was not one wit smart or even a "good" businessman. Shame on those who chose to believe the BS instead of the truth, and who did it more than once!

Does anyone think that shade tents, drinking water, mist tents, and other services to keep people from overheating will be provided, until the fireworks finally start at 11 pm? From a farmers point of view, it is sad that what could have been an event celebrating our agrarian heritage is a tacky side show. I love my county fair, where I have won ribbons for quilts and baked goods. Where are the 4H displays? The elephant ears and funnel cakes? The sheep and goats? The fair theme was a good idea, if he had talked to the folks who organize county fairs every year.
He probably never went to a county fair and enjoyed seeing the hard work of others, especially the youth. So his fiasco is what he thinks the Serfs will enjoy,
Being from Queens, I suspect he had a worlds fair type event in mind. The world’s Fair of 1964 grounds are now a large park with a huge iconic globe that was left from the fair. Worlds Fairs generally feature wonders of modern technology(steam engines, the telephone, phonographs and electric lighting to name a few). Given the Trump administration’s rejection of any technology except AI it was not possible to pull off. Instead of forcing tech oligarchs to fund his ballroom he could have had them fund an exciting and educational fair. Instead you get lame booths for each state, some featuring the confederate flag.
