Of course, when you have a reality TV star as Commander in Chief, and a Defense Department headed by a Fox talking head, you should expect an emphasis on theater over strategy, of content over competence. There has been wide condemnation of Zelenskyy's decision to remove Fedorov, but if there was a deepening feud between Fedorov and Sirsky, he had to do something. I'm sure he made the decision reluctantly, and tried to minimize the fallout by removing only one of the feuding parties. But it turned out that the situation was too far gone to respond to half measures.
Zelenskyy is just simply smarter than Trump. Trump will do the same thing forever expecting a different outcome the very definition of insanity without using let alone thinking about any kind of strategy.
